Routines songs and transitions

1)   Routines

The routines are songs in which it integrates basic vocabulary such as greetings or days of the week. The routines are songs in which it integrates basic vocabulary such as greetings or days of the week.   In childhood education are very used to start class or to introduce new vocabulary. The themes are:

  • -        Greetings
  • -        Days of the week chart
  • -        Months of the year chart
  • -        Seasons chart
  • -        Weather chart
  • -        Personal behavior chart
  • -        Start chart


2)   Transitions

Rhymes and songs help children move from one activity to another.  When children become familiar with just a few transitional rhymes they become secure in their knowledge of what comes next . But, sometimes the transition times are often difficult for preschool children and their teachers. The transitions are generally used at the moments of:

-       Starting the day
-       Time to clean up
-       Quiet up
-       Calming and naptime
-       Time to sit on the rug- Circletime
-       Storytelling
-       Lining up
-       Lunch time
