REASONS TO USE CARTOONS IN THE FL CLASS
  • ·       They add variety and entertainment in class.
  • ·       They give a clear context in which to present and practice aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary, structures, functions and sociocultural contents.
  • ·       They present the communicative situation in its globality, with its linguistic and paralinguistic information.
  • ·       They present the foreign language in a way closer to its use in real life.
  • ·       The visual and additive information which they include (fixed images, images in movement, facial expressions, gestures, colors, shapes, language, music, sound effects…) contribute to make the input comprehensibleChildren are very familiarized with these media. 
  • ·       Image catches more the attention than sound.

Easter

At Easter time in the UK there are two bank holidays (public holidays): Good Friday and Easter Monday. At Easter there are holidays and the family can enjoy together. Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate, the Easter eggs.
Eggs are a forbidden food during Lent, making them a welcome return to the menu on Easter Day.The first eggs given at Easter were birds eggs but now are with chocolate.
In this day, is very common hide for the children the Easter Egg  to find on the traditional Easter Egg Hunt. 
 

Mother’s day
The mother’s day in the UK is different day that in Spain (Fourth Sunday of cuaresma)
In this day the kids do or buy presents at his mother. We can do in class activities, look it:

   Fathers day
Is the third Sunday of June, in the fathers day we do presents for the father. We can do it or pay for the presents. 

Halloween ( 31th October)
On October 31st, we celebrate Halloween, thought to be the one night of the year when ghosts, witches, fairies and are especially active. Children that day disguised what you like and go from House to House saying "trick or treat" begging for food, candy or what families want them to give.

-  The American Halloween tradition of "trick-or-treating" probably dates back to the early All Souls' Day parades in England.
- The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots.

Chrismas ( 25th December )
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 by the birth of Jesus. Christmas is magical, all families and friends gather to share customs which have existed for many years. The British prepare it days earlier with cards, games of Christmas... The houses are decorated, and the streets filled with lights, which spend the winter in a beautiful way.

In the childhood education curriculum, is determined as one of the objectives of the stage the "Participating in cultural events related to the countries where the foreign language is spoken" ie as teachers it is necessary that teach the customs and identity associated the language to be treated.
In the case of English, as we shall , every month's are British and American festivities that as teachers we need to know to inform students.

JANUARY·          New Year, 1st of January

The first day of the year is also party. It is a time for looking forward and wishing for a new year ahead. It is also a holiday. People welcome the New Year on the night before. This is called New Year’s Eve. All over Britain there are parties, fireworks, singing and dancing, to ring out the old year and ring in the new. As the clock, Big Ben, strikes midnight, people link arms and sing a song called Auld Lang Syne. It reminds them of old and new friends.

·          Valentine ’s Day ( 14th of February)
Valentine's Day (Saint Valentine's Day) is an festival celebrated on February 14th. It is an important day for the people who are in love and express his love each other with cards, flowers or presents. .The children are young to fall in love, but you can do a lot of  activities that can be given away to friends or parents as well as her boyfriend / a.


MARCH
·          Saint patrick’s day (17th of March)

The national day of Northern Ireland is St Patrick's Day. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He died on 17th March in AD 461 and this day has since been commemorated as St. Patrick’s Day. The national emblem or Ireland is the Shamrock because Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain how the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit could exist as separate parts of the same being. His followers took to wearing a shamrock in celebration. This day, all the people carry green clothes and drinking Guinness ( traditional drink or Ireland)
